Costa Rica Adventure! Canyoning with Serendipity
Canyoning in Costa Rica is an exciting and adrenaline-packed way of seeing waterfalls from a whole different perspective. This adventure activity combines hiking, rock scrambling and rappelling to see beautiful, remote canyons that you wouldn’t be able to any other way. Rappelling is the only way to experience a pristine waterfall from top to bottom (without having to climb stairs in an altered, man-made environment!).
Canyoning & Waterfall Rappelling
We specialize in canyoning trips in Costa Rica in the region of Turrialba. For travelers looking to include canyoning adventures in other areas of Costa Rica, we can also offer this experience through one of our trusted partners.
Canyoning in the Turrialba
Turrialba is known for its rugged terrain, lush rainforests, and numerous rivers and waterfalls, making it an ideal destination for canyoning. We’ve explored lots of streams and found the best — deep jungle white water. Water both effervescent and so pure you can drink it, unfiltered. You get wet and sweaty, and usually banged up and bruised a bit, but in the end, there is a real sense of achievement from canyoning. Serendipity shares with you the satisfaction of accomplishing something thrilling, challenging, and that you never believed you’d ever try to do!
Canyoning with Serendipity is for all levels, from novice to advanced canyoneers. No previous experience is necessary and the minimum age to participate is 7 years old. We’re also proud that we have introduced canyoning and rappelling to people with physical challenges, including blindness and muscular disorders. It’s not a matter of strength — it’s a matter of trusting others and the equipment.
Following our canyoning activities in Turrialba, we always include a well-deserved lunch at a local family’s casita. Enjoy traditional wholesome food to refuel and learn more about the local culture of this area. After your morning of adventure, we recommend visiting a local cacao farm to learn about the process of making chocolate or visiting a local dairy farm to make your own Turrialba cheese!
