Costa Rica Sea Kayaking
Costa Rica is bordered by two oceans and, with much of the country unreachable by road, there are a number of places that are best experienced by sea kayaking. Whether it be island hopping across the Gulf of Nicoya or exploring the warm waters of the Golfo Dulce or the Caribbean coast, a sea kayak can add an extra dimension to your journey and get you to places you can’t reach by road.
Your Serendipity adventure can include anything from one hour of easy paddling in a sit-on-top kayak, to several days of island hopping in unprotected waters. When you paddle Costa Rica as part of a Serendipity adventure you are guaranteed to have good food, clean and comfortable lodging, and well-maintained equipment.
In contrast to most of our activities, Serendipity does not run sea kayak tours but will include this activity as part of your Costa Rican vacation. For examples of how sea kayaking can be incorporated into your active Costa Rican vacation, have a look at our sample itineraries or ask your trip planner.
River Kayaking in Costa Rica
Navigate rapids in an inflatable kayak down the Pacuare River or meander through the canals of Tortuguero National Park on an open-top kayak, Costa Rica offers experiences for every skill level.
Many coastal destinations, such as Manuel Antonio, Carate, Samara and Tamarindo offer kayaking tours through mangroves, one of the most important habitats in the country. This environment offers the perfect opportunity for birdwatching and wildlife observation.
For visitors to La Fortuna, kayaking on Lake Arenal with views of the iconic Arenal Volcano can certainly be a vacation highlight.
No matter which part of Costa Rica you visit, our Travel Specialists will be able to recommend the best kayaking experience for you. The first step to enjoying a Serendipity adventure is to contact us.
